1. The Old Hall

The Old Hall is situated in Billingborough, in relatively close proximity to Sleaford, Grantham, Boston, Spalding and Stamford. It’s a Grade 2 Listed Manor House built in 1632 surrounded by walled gardens. To the backside of the gardens is Spring Wells; a natural spring surrounded by beautiful trees and inhabited by local ducks.

They’re specialized in providing care of people aged 65+. They provide low to high dependency care needs, palliative care, day care, convalescent care.

Because of its exceptional services, The Old Hall is the only care home located in Lincolnshire that has Outstanding rating in all 5 disciplines of being Safe, Well-led, Caring, Responsive and Effective from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). 2. Welbourn Manor Care

Welbourn Manor Care Centre is operated by The St Philips Care Group, which currently comprises 31 homes across the UK.

The 25 bed home is surrounded by extensive grounds, a fish pond and a walled garden in a village setting in the north of the county. The Manor has recently been refurbished and re-decorated to provide cosy and comfortable surroundings.

They specialise in providing care for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s Disease and  Stroke patients and whilst the CQC suggest this home requires improvements (here’s Welbourn Manors CQC report), other reviews give this home good reports.

3. Stones Place

Stones Place is situated in Lincoln. Originally a country manor house, it’s situated next to Hartsholme Lake, close to the beautiful Hartsholme Country Park, which has good access for wheelchair users. 

They have 42 rooms providing specialised residential care for people aged 65+. All care packages are tailored to each individual’s personal needs. They maintain a programme of events and activities so that the residents are always well entertained.

The care home won the Top 20 Awards in 2019 from carehome.co.uk for being one of their top 20 care providers and are rated Good by the CQC.

4. Woodgrange Home

Wood Grange Care Home, a Barchester run home, is situated in Bourne, next to the River Glen. It has 64 rooms and provides high quality 24-hour nursing and residential care, as well as expert care for people living with dementia.

They provide research based care and stimulation in a secure environment in their Memory Lane Community facility. Helping dementia patient residents make sense of their physical surroundings with the use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home.

They were the finalist for the Health Investor 2019 awards and for the Healthcare Design Awards 2019. They are rated as Good by the CQC.

5. OSJCT Gregory House

The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) Gregory House is in Grantham. OSJCT has numerous care homes in Lincolnshire all being members of the Alzheimers Dementia Action Alliance. 

It’s a 32-bed care home with specialising in delivering residents ages 65+ who suffer with dementia. They provide long term dementia, dementia respite, long term nursing, nursing respite, long term residential, residential respite, intermediate care, day care and extra care housing. They have activities scheduled every day of the week including yoga pottery classes, piano lessons, cooking, exercise club.

Residents can volunteer to cook meals so that they get to eat and live like being in their own home.

The OGJSCT Gregory House has an Outstanding rating from CQC in providing Care, being Responsive and Well-led, they’re rated Good in being Safe and Effective.

6. The Laurels

The Laurels in Lincoln has eleven en-suite rooms and one studio apartment. The home has a garden with wheel-chair friendly floors and a therapy room.

If your needs require more specialist care, The Laurels provides services for the 65+ who are mentally disabled or have sensory impairments. It’s in easy reach of various local amenities, educational resources, social and leisure activities. The residents can use the hydrotherapy pool and sports facilities at Lincoln College. 

The home has a CQC outstanding rating in being Well-led, Caring and Effective, with Good ratings for Safety and Responsiveness. Also they were named the Complex Care Provider of the Year in the Health Investor Awards in 2018.

7. Willan House Home Care

Willan House in Stainfield holds a nationally recognised care home award. In February 2019 it was awarded ‘platinum status’ under the Gold Standard Framework for Care Homes, one of only two residential homes in Lincolnshire.

The home is situated 3 miles from Wragby and Bardney and 10 miles from Lincoln. Easy access from Nettleham, Cherry Willingham Washinborough and Horncastle areas. It’s set in lovely gardens and has some stunning views as far as Lincoln Cathedral and The Lincolnshire Wolds.

They provide care for 65+ and specialise in dementia and also end of life care. They also offer respite and day care. They have a good rating by the CQC.

8. Westerley Residential Care Home for the Elderly

Westerley Residential care home is situated on The Broadway in the village of Woodhall Spa on the Southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It’s a 30-bed care home specialising in caring for people aged 65+, the property surrounded by trees, which protects it from the East Coast winds. 

It was opened in May 1955 as a care home for elderly Methodist (or Wesleyan Reform) Local Preachers, their widows, widowers or dependants. Any other person may now be welcomed into residence as long as they wish to live out their days as part of the Christian community.

Facilities at the care home include a patio and summer house, a large garden area and sun lounge. Activities held include quizzes, beetle drive, scrabble, talks and musical evenings.

The care home has Good rating from the CQC in all the niches; being Safe, Well-led, Caring, Responsive and Effective.

9. OSJCT Apple Trees Care & Reablement Centre

Apple Trees Care & Reablement Centre is on the outskirts of Grantham, close to local amenities. It has comfortable lounges and gorgeous landscaped courtyard gardens.

The home has specialisms in dementia, mental health, physically disabled and sensory impaired 65+ people. The staff work 24/7 to give its patients high quality care and support. They serve home-cooked meals made by their talented cooks and kitchen team. The home hosts 64 residents and offers a range of activities arranged by the team such as trips to the garden centre, cafes, pubs, sporting events, exercises and wellness activities like Yoga and Zumba.

They are rated good by the CQC with an Outstanding rating in Caring.

10. OSJCT The Poplars

Despite being the tenth in this list of the best care homes in Lincolnshire, The Poplars, another good offering from OSJCT, has great reputation for providing quality. It is located close to the centre of Market Rasen, surrounded by beautiful gardens where residents can take a sit and enjoy nature or walk through the colourful flowers.

The home has a capacity of 51 beds. It has specialisms in dementia care for older people (65+). The care home has a dedicated Activities Coordinator that sets up various tailored activities and events according to the requests of the residents. The Poplars offers similar activities to the Apple Trees Care & Reablement Centre. They provide activities featuring Reminiscence Therapy to help dementia patients remember events, people and places using sight, touch, taste, smell and sound.

The Poplars is rated good by the CQC across all disciplines.
